There are currently approximately 9,000 passenger trips at the Chemult facility each year, per the Oregon Dept. of Transportation.[3] It is not staffed and only consists of a platform structure and a warming shelter, and is the subject of much criticism as being too small.[4] Trains must make a double stop at the station because the cement platform is so short.[5]
Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach offers connecting service to Bend, Oregon.[4]
Of the seven Oregon stations served by Amtrak, Chemult was the sixth busiest in FY2010, boarding or detraining an average of approximately 25 passengers daily.[6]
New station
A new Chemult station was built on the site during 2010. The new station cost $600,000 and was built in the Cascadian architecture style.[3] Construction began in May 2010 and was completed in November, in time for a 10 November opening.[3]
