- Ludwig Abel
Ludwig Abel (
January 14 ,1834 –August 13 ,1895 ) was a Germanviolinist ,composer , and conductor.Born in
Eckartsberga ,Province of Saxony , he was a pupil of Ferdinand David. He became a member of theLeipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra , and in 1853 moved to the court orchestra ofSaxe-Weimar-Eisenach inWeimar . In 1867, he became theconcertmaster at the Bavarian royal court inMunich . He took up teaching at the Musikschule in Munich managed byHans von Bülow , where he became Professor in 1880 and retired in 1894.Abel's compositions included a
violin concerto and aviolin method as well asétude s and duos for violin.References
