- Sidney Weintraub
Sidney Weintraub (1914-1983) was one of the most prominent American members of the Post-Keynesian school in economics. He was born in
New York , and was initially educated in the United States. He studied at theLondon School of Economics in 1938-39 but the outbreak of the Second World War forced him to return home. He received his PhD fromNew York University in 1941.He worked for the US government during the war, and subsequently in the
New School for Social Research . In 1952 he was appointed Professor in Economics in theUniversity of Pennsylvania where he remained for the rest of his career.Sidney Weintraub was the founder and co-editor of the "Journal of Post Keynesian Economics" together with Paul Davidson.
His son,
E. Roy Weintraub , also made his career as an academic economist (although he was initially trained as a mathematician), and is currently a Professor of Economics inDuke University .Major works
