Avalon (Jewel Riders)

Avalon (Jewel Riders)

Avalon is a fictional land in the "Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders" animates series.

Geography

Avalon is bordered by icy mountain ranges to the north, oceans to the east, jungles to the south, and great deserts to the west. Once the magical bond was broken, the Crown Jewels scattered and returned to the lands from where they came, and the wild magic is flowing out of control.

The Burning Deserts

The Burning Deserts on the western border of the kingdom are home to lots of snakes, lizards, and cacti. Nobody has explored too far into the deserts because there isn't enough water to keep an expedition going. Strangely, Travel Trees do grow in the desert, in the shape of palm trees. The Deserts contain many portholes that lead to many different lands.

*Rainbow Bridge is entrance to the Fairyland.

The Crystal Cliffs

The mysterious and ancient Crystal Cliffs form the northern border of Avalon. Most people of Avalon only see them as tall white spikes against the horizon, but the cliffs are full of secrets that have been frozen for thousands of years. The mountains are made of ice that has frozen so hard it couldn't be melted by any heat. Long, long ago the wizards mined the Crystal Cliffs and dug out the Wizard's Peak, where ancient wizards of the past used to come and study in the Hall of Wizards.

*Wizard's Peak is a hidden ice cave, holding incredible treasures stashed by the wizards who once lived there. Now holds it also clues to why the wizards disappeared and what they were like. However, a genie guards the room and obeys only what old wizards tell him to do.

*Fairyland is an enchanted land of tiny fairies. It is ruled by King Oberon and his daughter is Princess Wisp.

The Great Forests

The Great Forests are the biggest county of Avalon, from above they look like a wide green carpet. There are legends about the Great Forests, like the one about the little fairy wraiths who are shy but will come out and dance for people who have pure hearts or people in love. Another legend is about a great beast called the Prince of the Forest. Part of the forest, Ravenwood, belongs to Lady Kale.

*Castle Thornwoods is the Lady Kale's forbidding domain. Here, the wicked sorceress likes to sit on a stone throne planning her evil schemes.

The Great Plains

The Great Plains are gentle hills covered with long grass that waves in the wind. There are some towns there. Heartland Farms is near one of them. The most magical part of the Great Plains is the Dreamfields, where the crown jewel was created.

*Dreamfields is the most magical and beautiful place in the entire Great Plains. People who fall asleep here can share each others' dreams. The dreams become reality, and every wish is sure to come true.

*Heartland Farm is owned by Tamara's parents, Doc and Charity. The baby magical animals are raised and trained here.

The Jungle

The Jungle is mostly impassable, hot and humid and overgrown with vines. Beautiful tropical rainforests in the Jungle are home to many magical beasts, some as big as dinosaurs. The are also many hidden lands in The Jungle that have never been explored by the people of Avalon. The emerald green crown jewel that controls this part of Avalon was taken over by Morgana many years ago and she made the jungle grow out of control. The Jungle is just a normal jungle full of lush, green tropical rainforest's and many animals of all shapes and sizes -- except for the spot that has a secret porthole to Morgana's lair.

*Morgana's lair was where Morgana, the evil wizard, created Kale's Dark Stone. Her home endlessly floats around in nothingness. If anyone else removes something from it, the entire place will fall apart and reconstruct somewhere else.

The Misty Moors

The Misty Moors are the most mysterious part of Avalon, lying under swirling veils of wild magic making. It is not safe to wander without magical powers. It's easy to get lost in the Moors and the mist rising from the bogs and drifting in from the sea carries strange magic. The Misty Rose Jewel with powers of transformation was created here.

*Castle Rivermist is a beautiful castle in the Misty Moors. A man named Lord Murray lived there, and he once found the Misty Rose Crown Jewel and turned himself into a rhyming troll, and the castle into a cottage.

The Riverdells

The Riverdells are where most of the human folk of Avalon live. It's a nice hilly region excellent for farming and growing orchards. A big craft fair is held in the Riverdells every year, and people come from all over Avalon to sell or perform their crafts. Also in the Riverdells are Rainbow Falls and the Elf Woods.

*Crystal Palace was built by Merlin on the heart of Avalon, in the capital, New Camelot. There's a Jewel Keep, containing safe storage for the Enchanted Jewels and device enabling to control the magic of Avalon. Just outside is the Friendship Ring, the most powerful place in Avalon.

*Elf Woods is home to many elves, great craftsmen making good magic with their songs.

*New Camelot is the capitol of Avalon and the most magical part of the whole Kingdom. Its jewel its is much larger than any of the other jewels - it is the Crystal Palace.

*Rainbow Falls is named for the rainbows created in the mist from the waterfall. There is a secret passageway behind the falls that created the Rainbow Crown Jewel. The rainbows created a powerful magical field in a cave behind the waterfall.

Unnamed land

The eighth land of Avalon has no name as such. It was discovered by Gwenevere and Drake when they got lost and blundered through the border mist. The eighth land is very strange -- the grass is bright neon green and bushes walk. Some of the strangeness probably wore off when the Fortune Jewel was put together and taken to the Jewel Keep, but this is still an unexplored land where anything can happen.

Jewels

Enchanted Jewels

The Jewel Riders (Sun, Moon and Heart Stones) and the Pack (Forest Stones), as well as the evil Lady Kale (Dark Stone), use their own magical jewels that are entuned to them and usually no one lese can use them.

The Crown Jewels

The Crown Jewels included Jewel of the North Woods found in the Ravenwood, Jewel of the Dreamfields, Rainbow Jewel found inside the Rainbow Falls, Burning Ice Jewel found in the Tower of Glog at the Wizard's Peak, Desert Star Jewel recovered in the Great Desert and Faeryland, Misty Rose Jewel found in the Misty Moors by Castle Rivermist's lords Murray and Delfonse, and the Jewel of the Jungle found in Morgana's lair. The eighth region does not have a name and was discovered by Gwen and Drake when they got lost on a mission.

Wizard Jewels

The seven Wizard Jewels included The One Jewel (Merlin’s wizard jewel - the red orb on his staff), the Garden Jewel (shaped like a flower), the Unicorn Jewel (shaped like a unicorn's horn), the Jewel of the Sea (shaped like a seashell), the Time Stone (shaped like an hourglass), the Jewel of Arden (shaped like a leaf), the Fortune Jewel (shaped like a top), and Morgana’s Darkstone found by Lady Kale in Avalon.
