"Whole Oats" is a 1972 album by Hall & Oates. It was Daryl Hall and John Oates first album as a duo. Prior to making this album the duo made a lot of demos, some of which were released on the Past Times Behind collection. It was released on compact disc for the first time on February 12, 2008 by American Beat Records.

Name origin

The album's name is a play on words, or pun, between the duo's last names. Daryl Hall's original given surname is Hohl which is pronounced, "Whole," and John Oates last name is pronounced, "Oats." This album is commonly misspelled as "Whole Oates" because of the spelling of John Oates' last name.
