Olu (name)

Olu (name)

Olu is a popular name amongst people of the Yoruba ethnic group. It is usually the first three letters of the full name.

Olu in the Yoruba language can mean god (deity), God or lord. so the name 'Oluwale' can mean "My God has come home". But since the name is applied to people, god in the sense of deity or lord is most accepted, with the word even being used as a royal and noble title in certain parts of Nigeria and Benin.
