Harry Edwards

Harry Edwards

Harry Edwards, born November 22, 1942 in East St. Louis, Illinois, is an African-American sociologist, and author of "The Revolt of the Black Athlete." An alumnus of San Jose State University and Cornell University, Dr. Edwards is currently Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley.

In 1968, Edwards was the architect of the Black Power Salute protest by African-American athletes at the Mexico City Olympics.

Edwards, who worked for many years with the San Francisco 49ers football team as a sports psychologist, gave the eulogy at the memorial service of coach Bill Walsh.
