Developers confirmed a PlayStation 3 "Wipeout" was being worked on and stated that there would be a full announcement regarding the game in August 2007 [ [http://www.psu.com/WipEout-announcement-coming-in-August-News--a543-p0.php WipEout announcement coming in August :: PlayStation Universe (PSU) ] ] , but the announcements around that time instead detailed the forthcoming "Wipeout HD". This high-definition "Wipeout" game was announced by Sony for release before "Wipeout PS3" in 2008, downloadable from the PlayStation Store.
