Fox animated TV seriesKing of the Hill , broadcast as the 9th episode in season 10. The episode's title is a reference to the 1982 film "The Year of Living Dangerously ".Plot
As Kahn struggles with his tedious job, he and Minh order a get-rich-quick video that they see advertised on television by "Dr. Money" (a parody of
Tom Vu ). Watching it, they are informed to find a "turnkey operation" to sit back and relax and make loads of money. Kahn ends up buying a popular car wash that often holds classic car events. However, he soon drives the loyal customers away by yelling at them when they loiter around or use their own buckets and water. Worse, he sharply reduces how long the water-sprayers will spray for, and makes his change machines shortchange customers.Mr. Strickland is very upset about this, as the now-depopulated car wash was his haunt for picking up younger women. He addresses the problem by becoming part-owner of the car wash, using the money for Hank's "test-driving the grill patio" to buy his share, much to his employee's dismay. Worse, Hank also has to "report" to the car wash the next morning, finding that he now works for Kahn as well as Mr. Strickland.
Kahn lords it over Hank, calling him his "monkey" and ordering him around absurdly. Hank finally has enough and quits. Mr. Strickland informs Hank that this would mean losing his propane job as well, but Hank doesn't back down. Mr. Strickland realizes his mistake, admonishing Kahn for having mistreated both his customers and a hard worker like Hank. He then sells his majority ownership to a local classic car owner. The man says to Kahn, "It looks like you work for me now!". Hank returns to working at Strickland Propane, and Mr. Strickland allows him to build his Test-Driving Grill Patio.
Factual Errors
* Mr. Strickland says that his muscle car is a 1979
Plymouth Barracuda . Plymouth stopped making Barracudas after 1974. The style of the 'Cuda indicates that it is most likely a 1970 Barracuda.
