- Hair dye stripping
Hair dye stripping, commonly known as color correction, is a process used to rid the hair of unwanted color. Certain hair colors such as black, red, blue, purple and dark browns often can cause problems for a person seeking to change his or her hair color back to the original color.
Procedure
Hair stripping is similar to
bleaching the hair, except that more intense products are used. The bleaching product raisessulfite levels and makes the hair moreporous . This allows all of the color in the hair to be removed. After this process, the hair usually becomes a very ashey blonde color or often auburn. Other dyes may then be added to the hair.Disadvantages
Some people believe that the process is excessively dangerous, because the substance eats away at the cortex and the
cuticle of the hair, which then absorbs the color from themedula (or hair center). This is very dangerous and the hair may undergo some very serious problems such as dryness, breaking, porosity and other serious problems. After hair stripping, the hair must be conditioned excessively.
