Pipeline Card

Pipeline Card

The Pipeline Card is a planned discount scheme in the UK which aims to give a 5p to 7p discount on petrol and diesel. The Pipeline idea was borrowed from a Belgian fuel card scheme and the website was launched in 2004.

Potential users are asked to register their interest with their e-mail address. Periodically a newsletter has been sent to everyone but with little apparent progress being made towards actually launching the card. The newsletters have also contained various "special offers" with online vendors, which has led to suspicion that the website may just be a scam to generate revenue from e-mail.

The concept for Pipeline was featured on motoring program Fifth Gear, in which presenter Jon Bentley was sceptical about how realistic the proposal was.
