The Glenelg Tigers were a foundation club in the NBL that formed in
1979 . The club was based inSouth Australia in the Adelaide suburb of Glenelg. The Tigers lasted only one season before folding due to financial difficulties. When the NBL was formed in 1979, the South Australian Basketball League entered their top two ranked clubs from the
1978 season as their representatives. The Tigers managed only 3 wins from 18 games during the inaugural NBL season and finished last on the ladder. They were replaced by fellow South Australian representatives theWest Torrens Eagles .After leaving the NBL, the club maintained a presence in the South Australian Basketball League. They currently still compete in the
Central Australian Basketball League component of theAustralian Basketball Association as theSouthern Tigers .Honour Roll
