"Cactus Jake Rides Again" is an episode of "Garfield and Friends". It originally aired on October 28, 1989.

Episode recap

Jon takes Garfield and Odie to a rodeo show where champion cowboy Billy Bob Bo Benson is riding. It is soon announced that he will be riding the horse known as Certain Death (who has a reputation of never being ridden to the whistle) the following day, and Jon believes that is the name of the horse they saw at the Polecat Flats dude ranch. This is confirmed when Jon finds Cactus Jake feeding him; meanwhile, Jake also mentions that he will win a cash bonus if Certain Death bucks Billy Bob.
Cactus Jake suggestively remarks that he doesn’t like staying in hotels; then he tricks Jon into letting him stay at "his" house. When Jon, Garfield and Odie return home, they find that their house resembles a dude ranch (inside and out). Jake then cooks Mexicali Chili for dinner, but after Garfield finds it too spicy, he instead opts to have microwave lasagna. He takes several lasagnas out to the backyard to eat them, but Certain Death confronts him, and Garfield hands the lasagnas over to him.
Cactus Jake nearly oversleeps the next morning, and Jon, Garfield and Odie push him out the door (literally) after he states that he’ll have to stay there if he doesn’t win the cash bonus. Jake then finds Certain Death sleeping (which is due to his having eaten lasagna), and when they all arrive at the rodeo show, he is still tired. Garfield gives him energy by pouring some of the Mexicali Chili into his feedbag, and he in turn successfully bucks Billy Bob and wins the cash bonus for Jake. Back at home, Jon bakes a lasagna and then shoves it into a feedbag. He then brings it to Garfield (who is watching television) and attaches it to his mouth, and Garfield concludes that it leaves your hands free to change channels.

Notes

*To douse the spicy chili taste in his mouth, Jon drinks water that the plant was in.
