Albert Houthuesen, (
3 October 1903 –20 October 1979 ), was a Dutch-born British artist. He was born inAmsterdam , but came toLondon in 1912, following the death of his father. During the 1920s, he studied at theRoyal College of Art withHenry Moore ,Barbara Hepworth andEdward Burra . His work was influenced by a range of artists, perhaps most significantlyRembrandt , Constable, Turner and van Gogh.He worked in virtual isolation for sixty years, producing a varied body of work. His pictures include still-lives, landscapes,
seascape s, and portraits, as well as biblical, mythical and allegorical scenes.His work is held in major collections including:
