Plasmodium inopinatum

"Plasmodium inopinatum" is a parasite of the genus "Plasmodium" subgenus "Vinckeia".

Like all "Plasmodium" species "P. inopinatum" has both vertebrate and insect hosts. The vertebrate hosts for this parasite are mammals.

Description

The parasite was first described by Resseler in 1952 Resseler R. (1956) A new rat "Plasmodium" in Belgium: "Plasmodium inopinatum" n. sp. Ann. Soc. Belg. Med. Trop. 36(3):259-263 ]

This species was described in Belgium.
