The 2007
Milan-Sanremo cycling monument took place on March 24, 2007, won byÓscar Freire , the Spanish rider for the Rabobank team. As usual, the race featured several climbs, such as thePasso del Turchino, theCipressa and the Poggio. An attack byRiccardo Riccò andPhilippe Gilbert on the final climb, the Poggio, lasted until the final kilometres when the peloton, propelled byQuick Step-Innergetic andTeam Milram caught them. In the ensuing sprint, Freire emerged from the wheel of Milram's Italian rider and 2005 victorAlessandro Petacchi to take his second victory in this race, following his success of 2004.General standings:
