2007 Milan-Sanremo

The 2007 Milan-Sanremo cycling monument took place on March 24, 2007, won by Óscar Freire, the Spanish rider for the Rabobank team. As usual, the race featured several climbs, such as the Passo del Turchino, the Cipressa and the Poggio. An attack by Riccardo Riccò and Philippe Gilbert on the final climb, the Poggio, lasted until the final kilometres when the peloton, propelled by Quick Step-Innergetic and Team Milram caught them. In the ensuing sprint, Freire emerged from the wheel of Milram's Italian rider and 2005 victor Alessandro Petacchi to take his second victory in this race, following his success of 2004.
