Edinburgh ,Scotland in1956 byRobert Matthew andStirrat Johnson-Marshall . The first offices of the practice were its headquarters in Edinburgh, and another inLondon . Today there are also offices inBangkok ,Beijing ,Cambridge ,Dubai ,Glasgow ,Hong Kong ,Moscow ,Shanghai , andSingapore .The practice, at least initially, designed in a very functional modern style. Although not a specialist practice, it is especially known for its work in the
higher education sector, including the entire campuses for theUniversity of Stirling andUniversity of York .In June 2007, RMJM and Hillier Architecture merged, forming a 1200 person “super-studio” that delivers holistic architectural solutions around the world. RMJM’s U.S. operations,
