Kevin Carrico (born
August 19 ,1964 ) is a director andcinematographer based nearDetroit, Michigan . His other professions includephotographer and advanced work incomputer-generated imagery (CGI).Biography
Kevin Carrico was born in
Waltham, Massachusetts and raised outside Detroit inRoyal Oak, Michigan . He formed an early interest infilmmaking and began shooting everything from war movies toclay animation since age 11. In school Carrico would often convince his teachers to allow him to incorporate film into his other studies such as physics, math, biology and history — often submitting documentary or fiction films instead of written reports while actually excelling in the specific studies themselves.Once enrolled at
Wayne State University , it was quickly apparent that his film skills exceeded those of his instructors, and Carrico took directed studies at an advanced level. Since he had already begunfreelancing in the production industry, Carrico was asked to help instruct his classmates and assist in running the university's film department.Since childhood, Carrico has known many Detroit-based
musicians and naturally prefers to work with them incommercials ,music videos andfilm ; these relationships have led to strong musical influences in his work. Carrico's extensive film experience underscores his pioneering work indigital cinematography andcomputer-generated imagery (CGI). In 2000, one of his HD projects was selected bySony for worldwide demonstrations of their newly-releasedCineAlta HD/24p (HDW-F900) camera system, the very camera system developed by Sony forGeorge Lucas and his most recentStar Wars films. It was the very first all-
CineAlta -HD/24p North American project from shoot to exhibiton (as verified by Forest Post Productions,Farmington Hills, MI ).Filmography and Other Work
