Nepean Hospital is a 420-bed teaching hospital in Kingswood. Nepean Hospital is located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Penrith NSW, Australia. With the gorgeous Nepean river flowing through Penrith, is one of the fastest growing areas in Sydney. There is easy access by car or public transport to Sydney City and also to all the attractions of the Blue Mountains National Park and the world famous Jenolan Caves.

Nepean Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Australia, treats over 54,000 patients annually. Our Emergency Department is a modern, well-equipped, purpose built facility with an adjacent short stay unit. Providing world standard emergency care for a diverse case mix including paediatric patients, is well supported by multi-speciality services including 24/7 Interventional Cardiology, Haematology, Trauma Services, Neurosurgery, Thoracic surgery, Urology, Plastic surgery, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Also on the Nepean Hospital campus are a Neonatal ICU, Tresillian Family Care Centre, Menopause Service, Nepean Cancer Care Centre, Diabetes Service, Rehabilitation medicine and the Wentworth Centre for Drug and Alcohol Medicine. There are 24 hrs accesses to a state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner and MRI services.

In our department, you will find friendly and considerate staff members dedicated in providing excellent emergency care. As a teaching hospital, you will find an interesting mix of experience among the staffs, but there is an excellent senior cover for supervision and advice in the department by consultants who have considerable experience in emergency medicine and nursing care.

The hospital hosts a clinical school of Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney. It is, along with Westmead Hospital, one of the two major hospitals of the Sydney West Area Health Service.[1]

The first Penrith hospital was opened in 1860, containing 6 beds and was located on the modern day Cox Street.[1]
