The 2001 UK Championship took place at the Barbican Centre in York starting on 3 December and TV stages shown on BBC TV took place between 8 and 16 December 2001.
Ronnie O'Sullivan won his third title this year with a huge margin against Ken Doherty, 10-1, which was the biggest win in the final since the championship introduced 19 frame finals in 1993. He also got the highest break, with 142 in the semi-final against Mark Williams.
This would be the first UK Championship to be held in York, only becoming the fourth venue in the championship's history.
