World Snooker Championship 2001

The 2001 Embassy World Snooker Championship took place between the 21 April and 7 May 2001 at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. It was won by Ronnie O'Sullivan, who beat John Higgins in the final by 18 frames to 14.

Notable Moments

Notable moments from the championship include:

* Both Steve Davis and Jimmy White failed to qualify for the 2001 championship for the first time in their careers. Davis lost to Andy Hicks 10-6 and White lost to Michael Judge 10-7. Davis' first appearance was in 1979 and White's was in 1981.

* Patrick Wallace reached the quarter-finals of the championship at his first attempt, and has never since qualified for the Crucible.
