- German Langshan
The German Langshan is a German
breed ofchicken developed from the ChineseCroad Langshan . It is a large and heavybird .History
The Langshan is a German breeding product that was created in the beginning of the twentieth century. It was created by crossing
Croad Langshan s with Minorcas and Plymouth Rocks. The German breeders imagined a good egg-laying chicken, that would have non-feathered legs (opposed to the Croad Langshan). The creation of Langshans almost meant the end of the Croad Langshan in Germany.Appearance
The 'German' Langshan is a large, heavy chicken:
rooster s weigh about 4kilogram s. The chickens have a contoured back and a relatively small tail. The head is relatively small.Colors
The Langshan is bred in only a few colors: black, white and blue. Some breeders have started breeding Langshans in a striped pattern.
Characteristics
Langshans are strong, vital chickens that grow up fast. They lay cream-colored eggs which are quite large. Because of their heavy weight, they don't fly much. Mutually the chickens are tolerant. They can be made tame without much difficulty.
