The
Te Aroha Centre is built inside the former BendonLingerie factory which housed 100 people sewing. Bendon agreed to sell the premises to Future Te Aroha, acharitable trust , forNZD $67,500. After much fund-raising and assistance from a bevy of institutions in and aroundTe Aroha , the sale was finalized.The Centre was officially opened by
Judith Tizard onNovember 23rd 2001 , starting off a month-long Aroha (Maori for love or esteem) festival which celebrated with a theme of "who we are". The theme for the building is "Aroha for ourselves, our family and our community". Te Aroha Centre tries to depict this through as many media as possible through the telling of stories.External links
