Richard Sterban (born
April 24 ,1943 ) is an American bass singer fromCamden, New Jersey , who joined the country and gospel bandThe Oak Ridge Boys in 1972. Prior to joining The Oak Ridge Boys, Sterban had been touring withJ. D. Sumner and theStamps Quartet , who were singing backup forElvis Presley . Sterban now lives inHendersonville, Tennessee with his wife, Donna, and two daughters, Lauren and Tori.He is also famous for his deep, rich bass voice. The bass part of the Oak Ridge Boys, is often attributed to what makes them sound unique in the country and southern gospel genres. According to The Oak Ridge Boys Fansite, the lowest note Richard has recorded to date is an E-flat below low C.

public service announcements forNOAA Weather Radio , and onSirius Satellite Radio he has served as the voice of "The Roadhouse ", theclassic country channel. Sterban is also a minority owner of theNashville Sounds minor league baseball team, the AAA affiliate of theMilwaukee Brewers .He is best recognized for singing the "ba-oom papa oom papa mow mow" portion of the Oak Ridge Boys' song Elvira.
