PolandVoivodeship Pomeranian County Bytów Gmina Czarna Dąbrówka Population 1,112 Czarna Dąbrówka [ˈt͡ʂarna dɔmˈbrufka] (German: Schwarz Damerkow; Kashubian: Czôrnô Dąbrówka) is a village in Bytów County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.[1] It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Czarna Dąbrówka. It lies approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) north of Bytów and 71 km (44 mi) west of the regional capital Gdańsk. The village has a population of 1,112.
History
It was founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1346 as Damerkow. The place was originally inhabited by Kashubian people. Since 1457 Damerkow and the nearby village of Kleschins (Kleszczyniec) had been owned by Martin von Puttkamer. Since 1517 it had been owned by the von Zitzewitz lineage. In 16th and 17th century it was the fief of the von Lettow, von Wobesen and von Stojentin lineages.
According to the history of Brüggemann[2], the village in 1784 had 1 farm, 6 landlords, 5 cottagers and 15 households. At this time there was Damerkow A consisting of a farm, 2 landlords and 4 cottagers, which was in the possession of captain J. W. von Puttkamer. Damerkow B consisted of 4 landlords and 1 cottager. This part belonged to Niemietzke (Podkomorzyce) village and was possessed by Johann Christian Ernst von Puttkamer.
After 1800 von Zeromski became the owner of Schwarz Damerkow. Waldemar von Puttkamer bought the place from von Zeromski, but von Puttkamer possessed it only until 1864. The last proprietors of Schwarz Damerkow mentioned in the memento book Güteradreßbuch were:

- 1928 - Harry Ikier
- 1938 - Hertha Ikier.
At this time the property consisted of 300 ha (741 acres) of arable land including: 235ha (581 acres) of arable fields, 35ha (86 acres)of meadows, 5ha (12.5 acres) of woods, idle lands, yards and roads and 20ha (50 acres) of water areas. The average tax per hectare equalled 3,08 RM (Reichmark). Schwarz Damerkow was the economic centre of south-east County of Stolp (Słupsk).
