Lilla Edet is a town (pop. 4,500) in Västergötland, Sweden and the seat of Lilla Edet Municipality, Västra Götaland County.

The town Lilla Edet is situated on the eastern side of the Göta älv, a main river on the west coast of Sweden. It became known as a halt there. A canal lock system was built there as early as 1607, becoming the first of its kind in Sweden. The commons people had named Lilla Edet as a match for Stora Edet, situated north of Lilla Edet, and today known as Trollhättan. However, the official name for Lilla Edet was for a long time Bergaström.
