KMCN went on the air as KNJY on
1980-07-01 . On1987-06-15 , the station changed its call sign to KCLN-FM, on1998-08-08 toKZEG and finally on2005-11-02 to the current KMCN. KMCS also switched from KCWW to its current call sign on 2005-11-02. Both stations broadcasted a
country music format throughout the1990s and early2000s , although under separate ownership and with separate indentities. KMCN (then KZEG) was then known as "The Eagle 94.7" while KMCS (then KCWW) was known as "93 Country". By 2005 both stations were owned by Prairie Communications who decided to drop the country format and go with an Adult Hits format simulcast on both stations.Mac 94.7 - 93.1: 2005 to present
The switch from country music to variety hits on both stations happened in
November ,2005 , with the new stations branded as "93.1 & 94.7-MaC FM." KZEG changed its call letters to KMCN, for Mac North, while KWCC changed its call letters to KMCS, for Mac South.
