Kee Beach

Keokinae Beach is located at the northern end of State Highway 560. It also marks the start of the Kalalau Trail, a foot path that is the only land access into the Nā Pali Coast State Park. It is an attraction for snorkelers, swimmers, and avid hikers. In the shallows of the beach, there is little current or waves. This makes it a popular place for relaxing in the water or for children. Venturing further out, a snorkeler can see hundreds of fish and there are large sea turtles that come very close. Visitors to the beach are warned not to touch the turtles if they approach. Human touch may cause you or the turtle disease and may the disrupt the turtle's natural habits. Also, a swimmer should beware of the dangerous tides further out that can smash a person up against the coral and may cause a safety hazard. To preserve the beauty and ecological importance of the abundant coral at Ke'e beach, visitors should touch the reefs as little as possible. Coral is extremely fragile. Standing on the coral will eventually kill it.
