Flynt Quarry

Flynt Quarry

Flynt Quarry was a granite quarry that opened in 1809 in Monson, Massachusetts by Rufus Flynt to originally supply granite for the construction of the Springfield Armory. It was later used to supply granite to virtually all buildings in Monson that are made of granite, including the Memorial Town Hall, the library, the Universalist church, and all of the monuments in town. The quarry went into decline with the introduction of concrete as a more popular form of construction, and the quarry was finally closed by around 1935.
