Beechmount, Belfast

Beechmount, Belfast

Beechmount ( _ga. Ard na bhFeá) is an electoral ward of West Belfast. It was created in 1985 largely as a successor to the former Saint James ward after the eponymous area was removed from the latter. Although the St. James area was returned in 1993 the current name was retained.

Under current proposals for the restructuring of local government in Northern Ireland the ward is to be abolished and replaced by new wards of Upper Falls and Springfield.
