Personal Support Worker

A Personal Support Worker (PSW) is a Canadian health worker that provides care to those that are not fully able to care for themselves. This includes seniors, individuals with physical disabilities, and individuals with mental disabilities, amongst others.

Duties and responsibilities

Some of the responsibilities and duties of a PSW include, but are not limited to:
* Observing and report's clinical and treatment information, behavioral changes
* Assisting with range of motion exercises, and other rehabilitative measures
* Taking and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, bodyweight and height
* Assisting with ambulating and mobilization of patient
* Collecting specimens for required medical tests
* Providing emotional and support services to care-receivers and families
* Assisting with personal hygiene
* Assisting with meal preparation, grocery shopping, dietary planning, food and fluid intake
* Quality care comes from quality training
* Compassionate listening
