Route Controversy
North Ferriby RouteSince the 2006/2007 regenerations of the A63 (the
dual carriageway leading to/past the school), many temporary routes have been made forpupil s coming fromNorth Ferriby . These routes have been mainlyimprovise d by Workers re-surfacing the roads, these routes commonly were coned off sections of road, or just a sign pointing in a general direction. The lack of clear indication of paths for theirchildren to walk along to get to and fromschool , and lack of safety barriers on the paths the children had towalk along, created an uproar amongst parents. For three to four months, school pupils often had their route to school changed once or twice daily, before afinal , 'official ' route was issued in the form ofmap s and handed to pupils inJuly 2006 . The final route took pupils safely across a designated foot path (withsafety barriers ) and across a foot bridge, this path lead pupils safely from theMelton area (where the school is situated) toNorth Ferriby .Elloughton RouteDespite no
road works taking place along the path toschool from theElloughton side of the A63, many complaints have been made a regarding thefact that students have to cross unguarded paths to get to and from school, sometimes in minimal light. Despite numerous complaints fromparent s and localresidents , no action has been scheduled to take place to combat these problems.Bus travel
Where there is sufficient transport available for all students the prices on majority of the routes are charged at a very high price, a return ticket for a child between Elloughton and Brough is just under £2 for less than 2 miles, once students are over 16 they have to pay full adult fare on school buses which is currently at £3 return.
