alternative country musician.Career
McRae was a member of the
folk rock bandSpirit of the West from 1988 to 1996. She andDaniel Lapp joined the band in 1988 when Hugh McMillan took a hiatus following the "Labour Day" album. When McMillan returned, Lapp left again, but McRae stayed on as the band's fourth member.Previously, she was also a member of
Bolero Lava .McRae played her final show with Spirit of the West on
New Year's Eve of 1996, and left amicably to pursue a solo career. Her debut album as a solo artist, "Flying Jenny", was released in 1997. That album was produced byColin Linden , and included guest performances from members ofBlue Rodeo ,The Tragically Hip andThe Band , as well asSyd Straw andGurf Morlix .In 2003, she released her second album, "Cryin' Out Loud", which was credited to the band Linda McRae and Cheerful Lonesome.
