Scraping For Change

Scraping For Change (also known as SFC) is a Bay Area based rock band. The band formed in Belmont, California in 2003. Scraping For Change is vocalist Anthony Andrade, Jr., guitarist Sterling Selover, bassist Manny Gonzalez and drummer Joe Szulkowski.

The founding members of the band were Sterling Selover and Anthony Andrade, Jr. They met while attending Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. They instantly began playing and writing songs together. Selover and Andrade, Jr. had an opportunity to record demo tracks at a small studio built in the garage of a residential home in Turlock, California. Before going into the studio to record a demo track called "Black and White," Selover and Andrade, Jr. acquired the talents of Manny Gonzalez, a college friend, to play bass on the recording. The band grew with the addition of Chris Lovero on guitar, also a college friend.

Scraping For Change made their début on Notre Dame de Namur University's college campus in the spring of 2004. They played their first concert as Scraping For Change with Selover, Andrade, Jr., Gonzalez, Lovero and brought in Tim Urbanski to play drums.

The band went back into the studio to record demo tracks as a four piece with a studio drummer. Later they called on long-time friend and drummer, Joe Szulkowski to join the band and to complete the demo sessions.

In the summer of 2004, Scraping For Change went into Sparks Studios in Emeryville, California to work on their début album, Heartaches and Danger. They worked with Kirk Casey and Tim Gorman (who has worked with The Who, The Rolling Stones, and others). They released the album in August 2004.

"Crazy Mary" and "Neverending Blue," tracks off Heartaches and Danger hit the airwaves in Indonesia on rock radio station Prambors 102.2 FM in November 2006.

Scraping For Change is currently working on a follow-up album to Heartaches and Danger.
