Strawberry Hill, San Francisco

Strawberry Hill, a fairly small plot of land that consists of one of the 49 or so hills in San Francisco, is an elevation of land in the city's Golden Gate Park. The hill occupies an entire island in the park's man-made Stow Lake (famous for its recreational boating), and can be accesed by two bridges from the mainland of the Park.

The Island is covered with a variety of trees and shrubbery and contains several trails and dirt steps that encircle and lead toward the top of the Hill. The Island also contains a waterfall that leads into the Lake, and not too far trom there, a Chinese peace pagoda stands near the shore of the Lake. The top of the Hill consists of a quiet and peaceful open space where 360 degree views of San Francisco can be witnessed (although the view is slightly hindered by trees)

The Hill is a popular destination for such foot traffic as dog-walkers and joggers, especially on the weekends. Dirt trails discourage the use of wheeled vehicles on the Hill. Frequently seen there during the fall and spring seasons are the Archbishop Riordan High School Track and Cross Country Team, who can be seen practicing repeats up and around the hill.
