St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong

St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School is an educational institution of the Catholic Church in Guwahati, Assam, India.

It belongs to and is managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco Educational Society (registered as ‘St. Anthony’s Educational and Charitable Society’ under the "Meghalaya Societies Registration Act" 12 of 1983. No E. 16 (RS) 30/2001/374). Guided by the religious and educational philosophy of St. John Bosco, the school was founded in 1901 to bring school education within the reach of the common man.

The school offers an education which values and nurtures the religious, spiritual, intellectual, moral, aesthetic, social and physical growth of each person. The School endeavours to instil in its students a love for excellence, integrity, concern for one’s fellow human beings and a sense of purpose and respect for self, others and the environment.

History

St. Anthony’s Primary School was established in 1901 by the Society of the Divine Saviour. In 1922, the Salesians of Don Bosco took over the School and raised it to an M.E. School. In 1931, on June 19th, the School was raised to a High School by Calcutta University. Now, St. Anthony’s School is a recognised Higher Secondary School under the Meghalaya Board of School Education.
