Fiji Football Association Cup Tournament
- Fiji Football Association Cup Tournament
Fiji Football Association Cup Tournament (Fiji FACT) is a football tournament organised in Fiji by the Fiji Football Association. The tournament is a brainchild of the then Secretary, J.D. Maharaj, and was initially organised to raise funds for the Association following the economic downturn of the late 1980s. The tournament has been played every year since 1991.
Nature of tournament
The top 10 district teams take part in the tournament. At present these teams are Rewa, Ba, Labasa, Lautoka, Nadi, Nadroga, Nasinu, Navua, Suva and Tavua. The teams are divided into two pools of five and each team plays all the other teams once, over four days. A win is worth 3 points, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 points. The top two teams in each pool qualify for the semi-finals, with the winner of each pool playing the runner-up of the other pool. The semi-finals and the final are played on the same day.
