The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Faculty of Law is the law faculty of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

History

Founded in 2005, the [http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/law CUHK Faculty of Law] (formerly the School of Law) is one of three law schools within Hong Kong. The CUHK Faculty of Law admitted its first students in 2006, including undergraduate (LLB) and postgraduate - JD, LLM, MPhil and PhD. The Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) programme began in September 2008.

In March 2007, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law hosted the 4th Annual Willem C. Vis(East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot at the Graduate Law Center in Admiralty. The international competition brought over forty law schools from around the world to Hong Kong. Louise Barrington, founder and director of the Vis (East), was a former professor at the CUHK Faculty of Law.

The CUHK moot team, composed of first year law students, earned a team honorable mention and an individual honorable mention in their first moot competition at the 4th Annual Vis (East) moot.

Degrees offered

The Faculty of law offers both undergraduate and postgraduate level law degree programmes.

Undergraduate

It offers a full-time four-year Bachelor of Laws Programme LLB. The degree offers students a general and professional education at undergraduate level.

Faculty and Students

The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Faculty of Law is the Honourable Sir Ti Liang Yang, GBM, former Chief Justice of Hong Kong. The current Dean is Professor Mike McConville.

Campuses

The LL.B students have their undergraduate classes at CUHK's main campus [http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/law/facilities/campus.html] in Sha Tin. The [http://www.lib.cuhk.edu.hk/Common/Reader/Channel/ShowPage.jsp?Cid=542&Pid=43&Version=0&Charset=iso-8859-1&page=0 Lee Quo Wei Law Library] is located on the 4th floor of the University Library.

The graduate-level law classes for the JD, LL.M., M.Phil, Ph.D., and PCLL are located at the Graduate Law Centre (GLC), on the second floor of the Bank of America Tower in Admiralty. [http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/law/facilities/graduateCentre.html] Located in the business district of Hong Kong, the GLC is within walking distance of the Hong Kong High Court and law firms. The GLC has its own legal resource center, considered a "mini law library".
