Daedalus Publishing is an American publisher of erotic literature based in Los Angeles, California. Subjects range from leathersex to alternative sexual practices, such as BDSM. Daedalus was founded in 1992 by Race Bannon, who also founded the free Kink Aware Professionals referrals service in San Francisco.
The inaugural title, Learning the Ropes: A Guide to Safe and Fun S/M Lovemaking was written by Bannon himself in 1992, and was followed shortly thereafter by Ties That Bind and The Leather Contest Guide by Guy Baldwin. Early books were by and about gay men and were also mostly educational in nature, but later started to include general BDSM topics and fictional material. Another well known title for this publisher is Consensual Sadomasochism : How to Talk About It and How to Do It Safely by William A. Henkin and Sybil Holiday, which was first published in 1996, and has recently been released as a second edition.
In 2001, the company was acquired by Stockroom.com and relocated to Los Angeles.
