Esjufjöll are a basaltic andesite stratovolcano with a 2.5 km (1,6 mi) wide caldera, located west of Katla in Iceland. Eyjafjöll are less active than other Icelandic volcanoes, although they have been active during historic times. Holocene lava flows are known at Esjufjöll.
