Elgin Township is located in Kane County, Illinois at 42.030073 N, -88.300107 W. It is a Convert|6|mi|km square, of which Convert|32.14|mi2|km2 are land and 0.490578 are water. Its population in the 2000 Census was 90,384, the second largest in the county. It has 31,167 housing units.

Most of the township is incorporated in the City of Elgin.
