Brian Stowell (born in Douglas, Isle of Man in 1936) is considered one of the primary people behind the revival of the Manx language. While a student he became fluent in the language, and made tape recordings of its elderly speakers. Recently he has become involved with radio broadcasts for Manx Radio.

Brian Stowell has published Manx literature including "Contoyryssyn Ealish ayns Cheer ny Yindyssyn", a Manx translation of Alice in Wonderland, published in 1990. In March 2006 his "Dunveryssyn yn Tooder-Folley" ("The vampire murders") was published - the first full-length novel in Manx [ [http://www.iomonline.co.im/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=1143&ArticleID=1397570 "Isle of Man Today" article on "Dunveryssyn yn Tooder-Folley"] ] .
