Figueira da Horta

Figueira da Horta (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: "Figéra da Orta" and the São Vicente Crioulo: "F'géra da Horta") is a village in the southern part of the island of Maio. The village is around 10 to 15 km east of the island capital of Vila do Maio.

Geography

The village is located in the southern part of the island and is situated in a dry climate and it receives little precipitation annually. Farmlands are the island's most common and are mainly of cattle, groves and some fruits and vegetables and rarely some fruit productions and are nearly the size of the football field and its only has about tens of farms, some foodstuffs are received from the northern and the southern parts of the nation as well as the island.
