John Palmer (composer)

John Palmer (25.9.1959) is a composer of contemporary music (acoustic and electroacoustic).

He has equally been active in different musical genres: from 1976 to 1985 he composed and performed as a pianist and keyboard player and directed several groups ranging from experimental music to free-jazz. Since the mid-eighties he has focused on instrumental, orchestral, vocal and chamber music, and in the early nineties he extended his compositional interests with electroacoustic resources. From 1990 to 1995 Palmer taught at the Oxford University. From 1995 to 2000 he was a Senior Lecturer in Composition and Director of Research at the University of Hertfordshire, England. Since 2000 he is Professor at the University of Music of Stuttgart, Germany.
