Alexander König (born
August 23 ,1966 inEilenburg ,Saxony ,GDR ) is a German former figure skater.Career
His family moved from Eilenburg to
Berlin in 1969. Here he started skating.Alexander König represented the club
SC Dynamo Berlin respectively. One of his first coaches wasInge Wischnewski .He started his career as a single skater. He changed to
pair skating in 1985 and teamed up withPeggy Schwarz . Their coach was Hedemarie Steiner-Walther.Alexander König as a sigle skater became 3rd at the junior world championships 1982. His greatest success in pair skating was the bronze medal at the Europeans 1988.
1990 Peggy Schwarz and Alexander König changed their coach to
Knut Schubert . 1994 the pair separated. Peggy Schwarz was pregnant. At this time Alexander König finished his figure skating career.1985 to 1988 Alexander König attended school to became a specialist in
gastronomy . 1994 to 1997 he studied sport at the Trainerakademie inCologne . He is an A-licenced coach of the DEU (German figure skating union). Already during his education he worked as a coach inStuttgart followed by a job as a coach inChemnitz . From 2001 to 2008 Alexander König works as a figure skating coach in Berlin. He is also figure skating judge and technical specialist. He moved to Oberstdorf in the summer of 2008 to coach there.Since 1983 he is also a painter and had several exhibitions for his paintings.
