Yankees Radio Network

The New York Yankees Radio Network is a CBS Radio Network (though most affiliates are not owned by CBS), which broadcasts New York Yankees baseball games. The flagship station for the network is WCBS 880 AM in New York City, while home games also air on XM Satellite Radio as part of its national contract. The broadcasts are produced by WCBS in association with the Yankees; YES Network provides a limited amount of technical support.

A separate radio broadcast of each game is produced in Spanish, currently airing on WNSW AM 1430 in Newark, New Jersey.

Broadcasters

John Sterling: The long-time play-by-play announcer, known for his colorful style of calling a game. He is best noted for his home run calls, which often involve one of his player nicknames or catchphrases and for saying: "Ballgame over, Yankees win, thhheeeee Yankees win!!!" after a Yankee victory. Sterling has not missed a Yankee game since he became the Yankees play-by-play broadcaster in 1989. During his tenure, Sterling has had many different partners in the booth including Jay Johnstone, Charley Steiner and Michael Kay.

Suzyn Waldman: Suzyn Waldman joined the Yankees Radio Network in 2005 as a color commentator, replacing Steiner. She is also the clubhouse reporter for the Pre & Post Game Shows. Waldman is the first woman to hold a full-time position as an MLB broadcaster.

Post-game show

During each Yankee Post-Game Show, John Sterling hosts from the booth giving the highlights and final analysis, while WCBS Radio sports reporters give scores and updates from games around the Majors. Suzyn Waldman goes downstairs to the clubhouse to do interviews, which are summarized during the post-game show. She usually leaves the booth during the ninth inning of a game to do this, which is why Sterling will normally broadcast the final half inning or so of each game by himself.
