It is situated within the Poplar Ward of theNuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council area.Until around 1999, it comprised of three streets with approximately 140 houses and a population of 250. Housing developments have now increased the number of houses to approximately 740 with an adult population of 1147 people, this detail being taken from Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s property and elector count.
This specific area has previously been referred to as a number of different locations, including
Exhall , Longford, Tackley, Little Bayton and Blackhorse Road. Due to these anomalies, it was felt that the area should be given a specific identity.Towards the start of 2005 contact was made from
Nuneaton andBedworth Borough Council toWarwickshire County Council regarding signage for the area, which is defined as being between the Hawkesbury Lane railway crossing and the humpback bridge over theCoventry Canal , alongsideHawkesbury Junction , where theOxford Canal starts.Following consultation, Warwickshire
County Council reached the decision that this area would be known as Hawkesbury Village.The
Member of Parliament for Hawkesbury Village is Mike O'Brien, the Borough Councillors are Bob Copland and John Glass. The County Councillor is Kam Singh.In August 2005 the Hawkesbury Village
Residents association was formed to act as a voice of the community and assist with local issues.External links
