Adele Marcus (
22 February 1906 -3 May 1995 ) was an Americanpianist , but better known as a teacher of many other famous pianists. She was on faculty at theJuilliard School inNew York City and provided master classes in piano performance at other conservatories including theAmerican Conservatory of Music inChicago during the 1970s in collaboration withWilliam Browning , also a teacher of great repute.She was the last of 13 children of a
rabbi of Russian descent. She studied underJosef Lhevinne andArtur Schnabel .Her famous pupils included:
