successor3 =Allan H. Kittleman has been a member of the Maryland Senate since 2004, representing Carroll County and Howard County. He was Minority Whip from 2007-2008. On September 16th, 2008 Senator Kittleman replaced outgoing Minority Leader David Brinkley. Senator Nancy Jacobs took over the Whip position. The combination is seen as a fusion of the moderate and conservative wing of the caucus. He served as a member of the Howard County Council from 1998-2004. He is the son of the late
Robert H. Kittleman and was appointed by GovernorBob Ehrlich (R) to replace his seat in the Maryland Senate. In 2006 Kittleman won re-election in a landslide against Democrat Richard Corkran. Widely viewed as a moderate, Kittleman frequently mediates between the liberal and conservative factions in the party.Education
Kittleman attended
Atholton High School in Howard County. He received his B.A. from theUniversity of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1981 and his J.D. with honors from theUniversity of Maryland School of Law in 1988.Career
Kittleman was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1988 and was an associate with Smith, Somerville & Case, 1988-91 (legal assistant, 1984-88)and a partner with Herwig & Humphreys, LLP from 1996-2003 (associate, 1991-96).
