George E. Tebeau (
December 26 ,1861 -September 29 ,1895 ) was anoutfielder inMajor League Baseball who played between 1887 and 1895 for the Cincinnati Red Stockings (1887-89) andToledo Maumees (1890) of the American Association, and with the Washington Senators (1894) andCleveland Spiders (1894-95) of theNational League . Tebeau batted and threw right handed. He was born inSt. Louis, Missouri .In a six-season career, Tebeau was a .269 hitter with 15
home run s and 311 RBI in 627games played , including 622 hits, 96 doubles, 54 triples, 440 runs and 228stolen base s.Coming from a baseball family, Tebeau was the older brother of
infielder Patsy Tebeau and outfielderPussy Tebeau , who were his teammates while in Cleveland. Nicknamed "White Wings" for his blazing speed, he was able to play three outfield positions, first and third bases, and also served as an occasionalpitcher . His most productive season came in 1889 with Cincinnati, when he hit .252 and posted career-highs in stolen bases (61), RBI (70), runs (110), hits (110) and walks (61). He later became the owner of theKansas City Blues American Association franchise.Tebeau died in
